#1 Disappearance of Brianna Maitland

In March 2004, 17-year-old Vermont waitress Brianna Maitland finished work for the day and drove home. That was the last time anyone saw her. Brianna's car was discovered the next day backed onto an abandoned house, with the boot of the car inside the property. Police removed the car, but didn't try to trace the driver. By the time they did, the leads had gone cold. To this day, no one knows who took her, or why.

#2 The Hands Resist Him

This creepy AF painting shows a young boy standing beside a weird doll, with hands pressed against the glass behind him. It was painted by an artist called Bill Stoneham in 1972, and is allegedly haunted. It was put up for sale on eBay with a note that said the owner was afraid of it because the doll seemed to move, and the listing was accompanied by photographs that showed the doll in various threatening poses.

#3 Idilia Dubb

Idilia Dubb was a Scottish teenager who became trapped in Lahneck Castle while on holiday in Germany in the 1800s, after an old staircase she had climbed collapsed behind her. She wasn't found at the time, but eventually her diary and bones were discovered. The diary documents her starvation and failed attempts to signal for help.

#4 Mellified man

"Mellified man" was a form of ancient Chinese medicine made by submerging a whole dead body in honey. The process started while the victims were still alive: they ate nothing but honey in the run-up to their death, and would bathe in it. Once the corpse was fully dissolved in the honey, the "confection" would then be used to cure various ailments. Er, I'll just stick to regular cough syrup, thanks.

#6 Order of Nine Angles

The ONA is a secretive, occult Satanic organisation based in the UK, with links to fascism and neo-Nazi groups. Their goal is to combat Christianity in order to establish a militaristic new social order, which they call the "Imperium". They also condone human sacrifice, referring to their victims as "opfers". They've also written several guides to human sacrifice, or "culling", as they call it.

#7 The Georgia Guidestones

These huge stones were commissioned by a mysterious group of "loyal Americans" and are inscribed with a weird message that says: "Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. Guide reproduction wisely. Be not a cancer on the earth. Unite humanity with a new language." Some people believe the message on the stones to be a Satanic creed, or even the "Ten Commandments of the Antichrist".

#8 Ed Gein

Ed Gein, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield, was an American serial killer who would make furniture and other items out of his victims' bodies. When he was finally apprehended and the police searched his home, they found a corset made from a female torso, a belt made from nipples, and a lampshade made of human skin, amongst many other things. #9 The “From Hell” Letter

Prolific Victorian serial killed Jack the Ripper sent several letters taunting law enforcement officials. This one is probably the most creepy, not least because it was accompanied by half a human kidney. It reads: "From hell, mr Lusk, I send you half the Kidne I took from one woman I fried and ate it was very nise. I may send you the bloody knif that took it out if you only wate a whil longer. Catch me when you can Mishter Lusk."

#10 Miroslav Filipović

Miroslav Filipović was a World War II Nazi collaborator from Croatia, who was nicknamed "The Devil of Jasenovac" because of his extreme savagery towards the inmates of the Jasenovac concentration camp. He would throw infants into the air and try to impale them on his dagger. He had trained as a Franciscan monk before the war and would often wear his robes while carrying out killings.
