At least 11 people were killed in an overnight Israeli air strike on the Khan Younis refugee camp, Gaza’s civil defence agency reported on May 3. Among the dead were three babies, the youngest just one month old.
The strike targeted the home of the Al-Bayram family at around 3:00 am. Civil defence teams said eight of the victims were from the same extended family. Footage showed rescuers pulling the body of a baby from the rubble by torchlight.
Israel confirmed the attack, claiming it was aimed at a “terrorist Hamas member,” but gave no further details.
A neighbour, Fayka Abu Hatab, said the blast shattered their home. “We saw a bright light, then a huge explosion. The windows, the rooms, everything was destroyed. We couldn’t see anything—it all went dark.”
