Escalation of Conflict: Israeli Airstrikes Hit Iranian Infrastructure
On Monday, tensions between Israel and Iran escalated significantly as Israeli forces launched a series of intensified airstrikes across various parts of Iran. The attacks reportedly targeted civilian infrastructure, including a hospital and a fire station, leading to widespread damage.
Civilian Facilities Damaged
According to Iranian media outlets, Farabi Hospital in Kermanshah sustained heavy damage when nearby airstrikes hit what was described as a local workshop. Footage shared by the Fars News Agency depicted scenes of shattered glass, collapsed ceilings, and severely damaged patient rooms. In a separate incident, a municipal fire station in the city of Musian, located in Ilam Province, was allegedly struck by Israeli drones, contributing to further destruction and panic among local residents.
Drones Shot Down by Iranian Forces
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that Iranian defense systems intercepted and destroyed several Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles, including an MQ-9 drone and seven other advanced UAVs, in the country’s western provinces. Video clips showed plumes of smoke rising from multiple sites, highlighting the growing severity of the conflict.
Israeli Military Claims Major Strikes
Brigadier General Effie Daffrin, a spokesperson for the Israeli military, stated that over 50 aircraft were involved in a large-scale offensive, targeting more than 120 ground-to-ground missile launchers within Iran. He claimed that these operations destroyed approximately one-third of Iran’s total missile launcher capacity, marking a significant blow to Iran’s military assets.
Israeli Leadership Issues Warning
Following the strikes, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a strong message to Iran’s leadership, asserting that continued aggression would result in direct consequences for Iranian civilians. He emphasized that Israel’s military response would persist with full force, suggesting the possibility of further action against urban areas in Iran. This statement has been widely interpreted as a direct threat of additional attacks, deepening concerns about a broader regional conflict.
