According to One India, Viacom18 Motion Pictures' latest comedy has had an impressive run in its first week. Starring Ali Zafar, Siddharth, and Taapsee Pannu, Chashme Baddoor topped the Indian box office charts, outperforming Ajay Devgn’s high-budget Himmatwala, which had released just days earlier on March 29.
And while Himmatwala has disappointed fans and stirred up some serious behind-the-scenes drama — including reported fallouts between director Sajid Khan and both Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez — Chashme Baddoor has had no such troubles. In fact, it’s riding high.
In its opening weekend alone, Chashme Baddoor brought in a solid Rs 19.30 crore at the domestic box office. Even better, it stayed consistent through the weekdays and added another Rs 10.70 crore, bringing its first-week total to Rs 30 crore in India. Abroad, the movie raked in another Rs 5 crore, taking its total to a whopping Rs 35 crore globally in a week.
Trade insiders opine that even if the movie registers a fall of more than 50% in week two, it is still well placed to breach the Rs 50 crore mark. Nevertheless, fresh releases such as Nautanki Saala and Commando are entering the fray, and so all eyes are on whether Chashme Baddoor can sustain the momentum.
But for the moment, it's apparent — Chashme Baddoor is conquering hearts and occupying seats!
