Daring Cliffside Experience Lets Tourists Sleep in Pods Hanging 320 Feet Above Ground

Visitors to a national park in China are redefining relaxation — by lying on a bed perched more than 320 feet above the ground.

This heart-stopping attraction, called the Cliff Bed Experience, is located in Mangshan National Forest Park in Chenzhou. Despite the vertigo-inducing setup, it was designed to help people unwind and momentarily disconnect from the world, according to Jam Press.

Part of the park’s outdoor adventure offerings, the bed is placed on a sturdy wooden platform that juts out from the cliffside. The setup includes a compact double air mattress, a duvet, a pillow, and even space to set down a drink or remove your shoes — all while surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, reported Global Times.

A now-viral video shows a woman calmly lounging on the cliffside bed, stretching and enjoying the dramatic alpine landscape in the background. While it may look like a place to nap, the bed is mainly intended for brief photo sessions and relaxation — not actual sleep.

“It wasn’t as scary as I thought it’d be,” one visitor shared. “I spent about 30 minutes there — mostly taking pictures and soaking in the experience.”

While the experience might appear risky, organizers have implemented several safety precautions. Every participant is required to wear a harness that’s securely clipped to the rock to prevent accidents. So while the setup may scream “danger,” it’s built with safety in mind — no unplanned cliffside climbing here.

To participate, guests must be between the ages of 14 and 60. Those under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult. Weight and height restrictions also apply: visitors must weigh under 220 pounds and be at least 4 feet 6 inches tall.

Before heading to the attraction via cable car, participants are asked to complete a health and safety form, which includes questions about age, physical condition, and any medical concerns.

The entire experience costs just around $13, and includes a complimentary cup of coffee — though with adrenaline pumping through your veins, caffeine might not be necessary.

Since opening on April 25, the Cliff Bed has already attracted close to 400 visitors — proving that even at sky-high altitudes, thrill-seekers are more than willing to lie down on the edge.
