Partialism is a type of sexual interest that centers on a particular body part, excluding the genitals. According to the DSM-5 by the American Psychiatric Association, it is classified as a fetishistic disorder only when it leads to significant emotional or social difficulties or negatively impacts important aspects of the individual's life. Previously, in the DSM-IV, partialism was listed separately as a distinct paraphilia, but it has since been incorporated into the broader category of fetishistic disorder. People with this preference may find the specific body part they focus on to be as sexually appealing—or even more so—than the genitals.
