Dumped dog's prayers answered by vicar's adoption

A vicar is going to need another dog collar after she adopted a Yorkshire terrier that had been dumped on the side of a road.

The Reverend Eleanor Whalley, vicar of Soham in Cambridgeshire, took in 10-year-old Cyril, who was left on the A47 near King’s Lynn in Norfolk in November.

Rescued by a passerby, he was rehomed by the RSPCA West Norfolk branch which runs the Eau Brink Rehoming Centre.

Ms Whalley said he is “fast becoming a little celebrity” in her parish.

The vicar stated she had started out to look for a rescue dog after she misplaced her terrier Belle who had died aged 14 and when she spotted Cyril on the rescue centre’s website she knew it was intended to be.

She introduced he had “settled in so nicely” in the parish and is “genuinely taking part in himself”.

“He’s fast becoming a bit movie star and now he’s were given his new own family with me and the parishioners of Soham,” she stated.

“His first reliable engagement become attending our Christmas tree pageant and he took all of it in his stride and turned into as properly as gold.

“He won’t come to each carrier with me – I suppose he’s going to be bored. But he’ll attend our pet provider in the New Year.

“Even although he is 10 he’s became out to be very youthful in his individual – and I wish he will become a actual ambassador for rescue dogs and rescue centres.”

Branch supervisor, Carl Saunders, stated: “Sometimes rehoming older dogs can prove greater tough but it was clean to look that Eleanor and Cyril were a perfect fit.
