Taylor Sheridan's Hold on Paramount+ Weakens Amid Latest Streaming Update

For years, Taylor Sheridan has been a dominant force on Paramount+, with his many series consistently ranking among the most watched. From modern Western dramas to crime thrillers, his shows frequently occupied several spots in the platform’s Top 10 list. However, that dominance now seems to be waning. For a long stretch, his work regularly held at least four positions in the rankings.

Currently, only one of his series remains in the Top 10, sitting at number six. The top positions are now held by other titles, including a firefighter drama and a gangster series that have gained strong traction with viewers.

This marks a significant shift from Sheridan’s longstanding prominence on the streaming platform. The firefighter drama has seen renewed popularity in its streaming release, especially with a new installment already being developed. Meanwhile, the gangster drama has climbed quickly to the top, fueled by a high-profile cast and a major promotional push.

Is This the End of Taylor Sheridan’s Reign?

Sheridan’s creative empire is far from collapsing. His series 1923 continues to perform well, and even as Yellowstone nears its conclusion, a number of spin-offs and sequels are already in development. Landman is moving forward with its second season, Lioness has completed its second run, Tulsa King is preparing for a third season, and Mayor of Kingstown remains an active part of the lineup.

However, there have been signs of tension behind the scenes. There are indications that the network has been aiming to cut costs and manage budgets more tightly, which may have caused some strain in their relationship with Sheridan. If he ever chose to walk away — or if the network chose to part ways — it’s likely he’d find opportunities elsewhere with little delay, given his proven success.

That said, if budget cuts were to affect the Yellowstone spin-offs, Sheridan might be inclined to take them to a new home. But it seems unlikely that the network would risk losing such a valuable creator. For now, Sheridan’s expanding universe remains firmly in place with the network.
